3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: 1. Provide, operate, and maintain the Site and Services, including account management, "My Library," and content personalization; 2. Facilitate contributor onboarding, content review, publication, and compensation through the Contributor Portal; 3. Send Newsletters, editorial updates, and Service-related communications; 4. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes without your consent.

4. Legal Bases and Global Compliance Approach

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing (e.g., under the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on one or more of the following: • Consent — e.g., Newsletter sign-up, optional cookies; • Contractual necessity — e.g., managing your account or contributor agreement; • Legitimate interests — e.g., improving the Site, preventing fraud, and delivering relevant advertising insights, balanced against your rights; • Legal obligation — e.g., tax, accounting, and regulatory recordkeeping. Because BLVD is accessed by readers, contributors, and advertisers around the world, we structure our data practices to meet or exceed the requirements of the principal frameworks most likely to apply to our audience, including the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), Canada's PIPEDA and provincial equivalents, the EU/UK GDPR, and the U.S. CCPA/CPRA, and we apply comparable safeguards even where a specific law does not strictly apply. Where two applicable laws conflict, we apply the standard that is more protective of your personal information, unless doing so is not legally permissible.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information with: • Service Providers: Hosting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing, and customer support vendors who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. • Advertisers and Sponsors: Aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized audience and performance data as part of our sponsorship intelligence offering. We do not share identifiable contributor or reader personal information with advertisers without consent, except as necessary to fulfill a specific sponsored engagement you opted into (e.g., a sponsored event registration). • Contributors and the Public: Author bylines, bios, and public profile information (e.g., on the Author Page, Leaderboard, or Rankings) are visible to Site visitors as part of the editorial and contributor recognition features. • Corporate Transactions: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections. • Legal and Safety Purposes: Where required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BLVD, our users, or the public.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preference storage, analytics, and advertising performance measurement. For full details on the types of cookies used, their purposes, and how to manage your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to: • Provide the Services and maintain your account; • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory requirements; • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements; • Maintain the editorial and historical integrity of published content (e.g., bylines on archived articles). When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize, or securely archive it.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you; • Correct or update inaccurate information; • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and legitimate business exceptions; • Object to or restrict certain processing, including for advertising or analytics purposes; • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., unsubscribe from the Newsletter); • Request a portable copy of your data; • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Philippines: If you are located in the Philippines, you have rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), including the right to be informed, to access, to object, to erasure/blocking, to damages, to data portability, and to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC). European Economic Area / UK: If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR as summarized above. California: If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Canada: If you are located in Canada, we process your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation (e.g., Quebec's Law 25, British Columbia's PIPA, Alberta's PIPA). You have the right to access and request correction of your personal information, to withdraw consent (subject to legal or contractual restrictions), and to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the relevant provincial privacy regulator. Our Newsletter and other electronic marketing communications to Canadian users are sent in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), including express or implied consent requirements and a functional unsubscribe mechanism in every message. Other Jurisdictions: BLVD serves a global readership, contributor base, and advertiser network. If you are located in a jurisdiction with data protection laws not specifically listed above (for example, Australia's Privacy Act, Brazil's LGPD, Singapore's PDPA, or other applicable regional or national frameworks), we aim to honor the rights and protections such laws afford, and we will respond to verified requests consistent with applicable local law. Where local law grants you rights broader than those described in this Policy, the broader protections will apply to the extent required. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

BLVD is intended for working professionals and is not directed at, or intended for use by, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will take steps to delete it promptly. Our commitments regarding the protection of minors who may appear in or be referenced by our editorial content are further detailed in our Child Protection Policy and PSEAH Policy. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted password storage, access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Transfers

BLVD operates from the Philippines and may engage service providers and hosting infrastructure located in other countries, including Canada, the United States, and countries within the European Economic Area. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable data protection laws — for example, standard contractual clauses, adequacy determinations, or comparable mechanisms recognized under PIPEDA, the GDPR, or other applicable frameworks. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country of residence, in countries that may have data protection laws different from those of your jurisdiction.

12. Third-Party Links and Sponsored Content

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, sponsored content, or embedded media. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Sponsored and advertorial content is clearly labeled in accordance with our Journalistic Ethics standards.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. We will post the revised Policy on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Material changes affecting how we use previously collected personal information will be communicated through the Site or via email where appropriate.
